Clips, Trips & 90's Hits!
Mon 19 May 2008
You may think that over the last few months things have been pretty quiet in the Newtonheath camp… Well that’s all about to change!!
Having completed our very first film clip a few months ago for our song “Between Windows”, we were then lucky enough to have the clip played on ABC’s Rage.
To celebrate this achievement, we are set to take on a mini-tour beginning on May 31 at The Governor Hindmarsh as part of the Are/Why? Clothing Showcase with Tony Font Show, Secrets In Scale & Soft White Machine. The following week we take off to Melbourne to play a Saturday night show on June 7 at Bang! with Front Counter. Then we cross over to Wollongong on Thursday, June 12 with The Green Room, and the next night, Friday June 13 for MUM at World Bar in Sydney with our good friends Cut Sic.
Also happening this month is the third instalment of Wish at Producers Bar which the Newtonheath team have been involved in organising. This Saturday night, May 24 there’ll be rad bands The Touch, The Battery Kids & Kill Whitey (Vic), plus Disko Disko DJ’s and Newtonheath’s own DJ Dan! Dan! Dan will make it a night you won’t want to miss, throwing down the best in’ old school 90’s tunes till close. Bring on Happy Pants! Yew!
We hope to see you all soon!
NH Matt, Rach, Dan & Shaun xOur very first video clip - help us get it on the telly!
Tues 15 Apr 2008
Hello!!!
Thanks to everyone who came out to our video clip launch at the opening night of WISH a few weeks ago! What an awesome night, even if ever since Shaun has been having nightmares of bunnies crashing though his drum kit haha! Check out www.myspace.com/wishatproducers for some great pics from the occasion.
We now have the video clip to "Between Windows" up for your viewing pleasure, up on my space page and directly on You Tube. Check it out and let us know what you think. Big shout out to Ryan from Room 3 and the cast & crew for making it all happen!

Embrace the heat-wave with a work out!
Mon 17 Mar 2008
So you would think that this crazy heat wave we’ve been having in Adelaide would send us in to retreat, resting by the Air Con… that’s if we were sensible!
Instead we have joined an 8 eight week "boot-camp styled" training program to help get our chops up for jumping around the stage. To aid this new found fitness obsession we have turned our band rehearsals into a cardio session which also couples as a sauna, as our band room has no ventilation and a few measly fans to battle the extreme temperatures of what we suspect is well into the 50 degrees celsius mark. It’s pretty damn hot anyway!!! ;)
Is it paying off??
Our first home town show at this week’s opening of WISH is the halfway mark of our training and we plan to bring our work out moves to the stage… well not really, but we hope to put an extra energy boost up there! Come along and let us know how we go! If anyone sees us out of breath, we grant permission to heckle haha!
Either way, it should be a great night to grab a drink special, have a dance with the Easter bunny and enjoy the awesome bands & DJs playing on the night!
See ya there! We’re on around 10ish.
May your WISH come true!
Mon 25 Feb 2008
Hi ya!

Held in the lushly decadent surrounds of the Electric Light Hotel's Producers Bar, WISH is the place to be for music lovers, whether you get comfortable with friends on one of the bar's couches early and settle in for the night, or make it the place to meet up after dinner and a band.
The monthly night kicks off on Easter Saturday 22 March when Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!, Sydney's To The Throne and locals Secrets In Scale will be plugging in their instruments plus Newtonheath will be launching their brand new video, shot right here in Adelaide and disko disko djs, DJ Dan! Dan! Dan! and DJ Penny Lane and will be playing the soundtrack of your lives.
The night kicks off at 8pm with DJs kicking on into the early hours of the morning. It's $10 entry, $5 after 11pm and each month there will be plenty of drink specials and happy hours. Over the next couple of months, WISH theme nights will include '90s Night for a walk down memory lane and Freaks and Geeks night, so clean out your cupboard and get those outfits ready.

The year that was...
Sun 30 Dec 2007
...and so we reach the end of 2007!! Finally!!
And what a crazy year it has been! For a band that only started playing live shows this April, we have experienced all the highs and lows of a band that’s been playing for 10 years.
The loss of our very close friends Josh & Raya Arcus in a tragic car accident on the eve of our first show was the most devastating. Our drummer Shaun was fighting fit to play the first show with a broken hand; we’ve struggled with crap cars; we’ve had relationship break-ups outside the band; we’ve been ripped off by our publicist to the point where the promotion for our album has been completely “D.I.Y” - all of these things could break a band in it’s early stages. But if we’ve learnt anything from our previous bands, it’s that you don’t give up too soon and something good could be just around the corner. Our insistence on finding a light at the end of tunnel has ensured the hard times have been, if anything, character building and have prepared us better for what is to come.
2007 did have its good moments as well. We jumped on some great supports for our first few shows playing with great Aussie bands Horsell Common, The Sundance Kids, Blueline Medic and Mere Theory plus UK band Dopamine, as well as later in the year travelling to Melbourne to play shows with the likes of Behind Crimson Eyes, Lungs, A Death In The Family, and Lead Sketch Union. In November we released our debut full length “Come Together & Unite”, and launched it on Dec 8 at the Producers Bar with our great mates and awesome bands The Sundance Kids, Tiger Stripes & Lead Sketch Union. It was a fantastic night!
Now closer to the end of 2007, the cracks of light are starting to appear, with a new publicity team looking to push our album into 2008, plus lots more touring in the planning. With “Come Together and Unite” earning a spot in dB Magazine’s Top 25 Australian releases of 2007 and some great reviews, things are certainly looking up!
Special thanks to our manager Fiona Stafford for all of her love and support this year; also Dave Laslett for all the help with his design work, doing sound at our shows and setting up on launch night; to the awesome Pete Lucas for filling in behind the skins; and our great friends and always happy helpers Hannah Fairlamb and Kate Warner.
Finally, many thanks go out to all of you who have supported us this year, who have come to shows, hit us up on my space, or bought our album - without your support our dream wouldn’t be possible!
We’ll see you all in 2008!
Have a safe and happy new year!
NH: Matt, Dan, Rach, & Shaun

Recording Finished! Back on Stage!
Thurs 12 July 2007
Hello! It’s been a pretty crazy time in the Newtonheath camp!
We have just rounded up almost a six week stint in the studio, and have finished recording our debut album “Come Together & Unite” and couldn’t be more pleased with how it’s turned out!
Again, big thanks to those who have helped with the process: Dan J, Alan, Paul, Ross, Lachi, Josh M, Josh A and Shane for lending some gear, Xavia for her beautiful cello work, Pete and Danny for video cameras, Tam and Danny for taking some footage and of course Mr Darren Thompson for steering the ship behind the mixing desk. Now just need to master and complete the artwork, ready for release later in the year... exciting!
There have also been a few things going on outside of the band...
Matt recently opened a new hair salon in central Adelaide, so if you live in A-town and need a hair chop check out www.myspace.com/canvashairart.
Shaun has just jetted off to the UK & Europe for a couple of months, so we have the lovely Pete Lucas filling in behind the skins while he’s gone.
After being couped up in the studio for the first half of winter we’re ready to venture back out, starting off with a show at Enigma Bar in a couple of weeks with Liam Finn & Cuthero, check out our shows page for all the details.
Hopefully catchya soon!

Singing Like A Choir
Thurs 28 June 2007
Heya!
We're down to our last days of tracking for the album, working the vocal chords with lots of singing in the last week. The songs are sounding great!
Our good mate Xavia Nou (from the fantastic Brother Sister - check 'em out) popped into the studio today to put down some cello - beautiful!
A couple more bits of extra instrumentation to go down tomorrow before getting stuck into the mixing next week.
Very exciting!

Guitar Heaven
Tues 19 June 2007
Hello!
The album recording continues to chug along nicely with Matt & Dan spending the last week or so putting down their walls of guitars.
They've been in guitar heaven with a large selection of guitars and amps to choose from :)
Cheers to Al, Paul, Josh & Shane for lending some guitar gear, and once again to Daz who continues to do a great job behind the mixing desk.
Next up, we’re warming up the vocal chords to start some singing!
It’s all coming together...
Have a good one!

Drum and Bass Done!
Sat 2 June 2007
Heya!
With Adelaide raining pretty constantly for the last week, it’s been the the perfect weather to head into the studio...
We’re two days into the album recording and so far it’s going well! Shaun & Rach have got down all the drum & bass tracks with everything going extra smooth... apart from a small crack in a cymbal and momentarily locking keys in the car ;)
A big thanks goes to Dan J, Cam, Ross & Lachi for lending some drum & bass gear, Pete for the video camera, Tam for taking some footage and of course Darren for making us sound good!
Next up, Matt & Dan are ready to hit it with their guitars!.
Have a good weekend!

PS Melbourne show dates for August TBA soon!
All Systems Go! New Tracks Up!
Thurs 17 May 2007
Hello!
All of a sudden we are 3 shows down, and at the end of this month we are set to head into the studio with production extraordinaire, Darren Thompson, at the helm to record our debut album. Many thanks to all of you who came out to Blueline Medic at Enigma, completing an exciting opening trifecta of shows to introduce us back into the scene. Again, we had an awesome time sharing the stage with two quality acts and great guys in Blueline and Realist Few.
We are now slugging away in the rehearsal room refining our set in preparation for our grueling recording schedule over the next couple of months. Sadly, we won't be playing any live shows while we're locked away, but never fear! We will be back in July for more shows! Keep checking back here for updates on how the studios going and info for up coming shows.
Until then, you can listen to some of our pre-production demos just put up on www.myspace.com/newtonheath. The demo tracks will include re-vamped full band versions of Between Windows and Cultivate plus some new songs, Come Together And Unite and Fixation, all to be re-recorded for the album.
Enjoy and catch you soon!

Welcome and Thanks!
Sun 29 Apr 2007
Heya!
Welcome to the brand new website! Thanks to Dave at Lifesetfree Design Co for doing an awesome job. Have a look around and tell us what you think or if you would like to see anything more on here.
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the first two shows. They were both great nights and we've been overwhelmed by the response.
The first show at the Jade Monkey was a night to remember as we celebrated the life and mourned the passing of Josh and Raya Arcus. We really appreciate people’s generosity for the extra donations given for Josh’s family in this hard time. Yesterday we went to the memorial to say goodbye which was extremely sad but beautiful. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with their families.
On Friday night we had a good time playing with Horsell Common, Mere Theory and The Open Season. All those bands are top class not to mention a fantastic bunch of guys, so if you missed it, make sure you try and check them out sometime!
Our next show is in a few weeks with Blueline Medic, another awesome band who have been fairly quiet in the couple of years, but are back on tour with a new album. Also playing are Realist Few so it should be a good night.
Have good one and hope to see ya round!

We Say Goodbye
Fri 6 Apr 2007
Hi all,
The first Newtonheath show will be met with tragedy and grief.
Joshua Arcus (guitarist in Edison Music) and his wife Raya were involved in a fatal car crash this week when moving across Canada from Calgary to Montreal. Their passing has rocked their community in Adelaide and friends throughout the world.
As most of the people playing next Friday’s show were involved somehow musically with Josh, we would like to dedicate the night in memory of him and Raya and proceeds will go towards helping the cost of getting his family members to the funeral in Canada.
We say goodbye to two beautiful people and dear friends.

Full Steam Ahead!
Fri 16 Mar 2007
It's been very busy behind the scenes lately in the land of Newtonheath!
Shaun's hand has recovered from its fracture so it's full steam ahead preparing for our first shows in April.
The other night we had our first official photo shoot with some great pics being taken. Thanks to Nat at Inside Image for all her hard work making us look good! ;) You'll be able to see the results in coming weeks on My Space and the brand new website, which Dave at Lifesetfree Design Co. has started work on.
And in the spare time we have left we've continued to demo songs for the album; they are coming along nicely and we hope to have something up on My Space in the next month or so.
Catch ya!!

A Broken Hand Will Not Stop Us!
Fri 23 Feb 2007
Hey there!
So things had been going along great guns since returning to Adelaide.. we were rehearsing hard for about a month… and then Shaun fractured his hand in a freak accident!
Although this has slowed us down it will not stop us, and in the mean time Shaun is becoming quite the skilled one handed drummer – watch out Def Leppard! Ha, ha!;)
Anyway, despite the set back we're still on target for our April shows to launch the band (with a two-handed drummer:), all details to be posted here and on our My Space very soon! We'll have our first run of merchandise ready for the shows with t-shirts and girl's singlets, not to mention FREE stickers!
Also in preparation to hit the studio in June, we've started pre-production for the album with lots of demo'ing, some of which we'll put up on My Space for a listen.
Catchya round and make sure you leave your well wish comments for Shaun!!

Hello!
Hope 2007 is treating you well so far!
We have arrived back in Adelaide and straight into the rehearsal room to prepare for a big year in 2007!
Dan has been doing a great job on guitar & vocals, and we are pleased to announce latest recruit, Shaun Reilly (Before It All Ends) behind the drums.
We're off to a photo shoot soon so keep an eye out here and on our My Space page in the next couple of weeks for some brand new pics as well as dates for the first shows.
Take care & see ya round!

We're Coming Home!
Sat 2 Dec 2006
Ok, it has been a really, really long time since we updated this...
In the last little while we've been experiencing minus 30 degree weather with lots of snow, so we're happy to let you know that we're about to make our way home to Australia!
Despite the current coldness, we’ve had a great time in the 12 months since we left Adelaide; writing an album, playing acoustic shows, seeing some great live bands and jamming with other musicians as well as plenty of travel and sightseeing, of course ;)
Now we are ready to return and complete the line-up to launch into playing live, recording and releasing the album. We already have the addition Daniel Gaskin from Sumi on guitar, who has busily been working on the songs over the last couple of months from across the seas.
Keep an eye on the website (we'll be less slack, we promise!!!:) and My Space in the coming months as we announce the new drummer and put up new band pics and demo’s.
Anyway, take care and we’ll catch you in oz in the New Year!

Writing in Calgary
Fri 3 Mar 2006
So we've braved the snow and played our first few shows in Calgary...thanks to everyone who came to check it out! And it was great to see Josh Arcus doing his thing again in The Basics Collective.
We're going to spend the next little while writing some new material, we hope to put some demos up on My Space when they're finished.
Take care.

Wed 1 Feb 2006
Alright, so it's been a long while since we updated the site... but we're back and ready to go! Hope you've had a great festive season and the new year has started well.
Since our final oz show we've been doing lots of traveling round checking out the UK, including London, Bath, Brighton, Stonehenge, Edinburgh, York, Bristol, Birmingham and even went to Newton Heath in Manchester (check out My Space for some pics)! Then a few days in New York, before finally stopping in Calgary, Canada ready to start writing the album.
We're staying with Josh (Edison guitarist) and his wife Raya, and he'll no doubt give us hand with some of the songs on the album. We've got our first Calgary show lined up with his project The Basics, coming up in a couple of weeks, can't wait!
Anyway, hopefully we'll update this a bit sooner next time...
Have a good one!

Mon 7 Nov 2005
First things first, a big cheers to everyone up the front at Taste Of Chaos. Appreciate the love!
Alright, so here's the big one...Newtonheath is relocating to Canada! We'll first spend some time is London and New York before being based in Calgary, which is where our old mate and Edison guitarist, Josh, lives.
The aim of the trip is to work with various musicians, perform, write an album and check out other scenes around the world. We'll be back in Australia in 2007 ready to tour with a band and an album.
We're flying out a week before Christmas, but we have a couple of acoustic shows planned before then so get along to one, starting with Schoolies Festival in a couple of weeks.
Make sure you stay in touch here and on My Space and to we'll keep you up to date with everything. Also if your not on our mailing list and want to, drop us an email.
In the meantime, enjoy the warmer weather and post exam celebrations and we'll see ya at Schoolies!

Mon 19 Sept 2005
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the Jade Monkey last night! (Check out the pic on the media page). What a memorable night it was... so great to see Harmony Boucher do her thing (amazing - even better than expected!), Sal Paradise (love those guys) and Josh Spier and his band who once again left our jaws on the floor! And it was a special moment for us to have Suresh (ex-Edison) join us on the drums for a song; the first time in 15 months... memories :)
We have a busy month coming up, being honored to once again join the stage with Joshua Spier for his album launch, and also put the finishing touches to our demo - an MP3 should be up on the site in the next couple of weeks...
Take care.

Ah Spring...
Wed 7 Sept 2005
... warmer weather, football finals... love it!
Rach heads off to Melbourne next week to play a couple of shows with Sumi, but will fly back in time to first go in the City to Bay Fun Run and then play a show at the Jade Monkey which we're quite excited about!
Opening up the evening will be Harmony Boucher who, at age 18, has already been playing music for nearly 15 years and comes from a long line of talented musicians. Next we'll play a set of Edison & Newtonheath tunes in the acoustic format, followed by indie rockers, Sal Paradise, who are back from a break equipped with new material.
And then one of our favourites; Joshua Spier and his fantastic band. His inspiring, thought provoking music is awesome live and if you haven't seen it yet - you should! And the fact that he now has an electric grand piano makes it even more impressive...
Have a great week and see ya at the Jade!

A new project, a new website, and new demo on it's way!
Believe it or not, it has been well over a year since Edison Music decided to call it a day, and a lot has transpired in that time. Below is the abridged version of events.
2004 saw us spend the better part of that year collaborating with good friends Darren Thompson (Thinktank) and Dan Jones (Serpahs Coal) on the rumored super group, Dies Ultima (perhaps the best band you'll never hear... but i guess you'll never know ;)
Sadly, citing musical differences, Dies Ultima parted ways before ever playing a show.
Songs were recorded, and may see the light of day yet, but don't hold us to that!
On the upside, every end has a new beginning, and each member has gone on to pursue music in their own way. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Dan all the best drumming in Adelaide Hardcore talent Stronghold, as well as fronting his own band God So Loved The World.
Likewise, we wish Darren all the best in his musical aspirations both in and out of the studio, and look forward to seeing where music will take each of these guys into the future.
So where did we end up? We put our heads down, poured our hearts out, and did what we do best: wrote a bunch of songs for a whole new chapter: the reincarnation known as Newtonheath.
Newtonheath are currently writing an album, as well as playing the traps acoustically showcasing Edison favorites, new material, and a few covers! Band members will eventually include performers on the album and complete the line up.
Rach has also been busy filling in on bass for rockers Sumi as well as working on an electronic project to feature a range of female vocalists.
In other news, Suresh (former Edison drummer) is currently performing with the very talented Joshua Spier, and Josh Arcus (former Edison guitarist) has also been busy giging from his current place of residence in Calgary, Canada (more on canada soon ;) Oh yeah, Matt auditioned for Australian Idol... but we must never speak of that again...
In the mean time, take care, get out to shows, and check back for more dates TBC soon ;)
Love
Matt & Rach xx
